Russ Smith Up For Several Awards Midseason

Russ Smith has been one of the most exciting players in the nation, that's right--Russ Smith. Because of his success he is on a lot of list for end of the season awards, including Player of the Year. I don't know what the world would be like with Russ Smith winning POY honors, but it is a world I want to live in.

 

Let's look at some of the prestigious award Mr. Smith is up for.

 

CBS Sports has him in their Midseason All-Americans:

G: Russ Smith, Louisville. It's wild that Smith has earned a spot among the top players in the country. He has transformed from a mid-major recruit to a dynamic scorer who is averaging 19.4 points and guarding well on the perimeter for the third-ranked Cardinals.

 

He was named to the Wooden Awards' Midseason Top 25

He also received votes in ESPN's Player of the Year Straw Poll, including three 1st place votes.
